Guns is Cardiacs’ fifth studio album and one of the warmest, strangest and most immediately approachable records in their catalogue. Its songs retain the group’s familiar collisions of punk energy, intricate arrangements and sudden harmonic turns, but the production feels more spacious and intimate than on Sing to God. Glam rock, ska, psychedelic pop, choral passages and abrasive guitar music all surface across the record without ever settling into a single style.
