Overview

LSD is Cardiacs’ sixth proper studio album and one of the most extraordinary conclusions in the band’s history. Begun in the final years of Tim Smith’s active recording career and completed much later by his family, bandmates and closest collaborators, it preserves the complexity, humour and emotional intensity of his writing while expanding the Cardiacs sound through massed vocals, brass, strings and unusually detailed studio production. The album moves between furious psychedelic rock, intricate ensemble writing, surreal pop and moments of profound tenderness, functioning both as a continuation of the band’s work and as a collective farewell to Tim.
