Snoopy's Disco

This recording was originally received as a single, unsplit MP3 with no identifying information beyond the fact that it contained a Cardiacs live performance. The setlist was subsequently identified as the long-rumoured Snoopy's Disco concert from early 1980.

The precise date remains unknown. Setlist.fm lists 1 February 1980, but this appears to be a placeholder required by the site. The Ultimate Cardiacs Gig List places the concert before the other known 1980 performances, suggesting that it took place early in the year.

The set is historically significant. It contains one of the earliest known performances of To Go Off and Things, an unusually early performance of Ice a Spot and a Dot on the Dog several years before its release on The Seaside, and the only known performance of As Cold as Can Be in an English Sea before the 2003 Special Garage Concerts.

This is also reported to have been Sarah Smith's debut concert on saxophone. Tim Quy filled in on bass for the first six recorded songs. At the end of To Go Off and Things, a voice thanks Tim for playing bass and says that he had only learned the material the previous night, although the final word is cut off.

The recording is of reasonable overall quality, but the vocals are difficult to hear and some form of noise reduction may have been applied. It is not known whether the surviving recording is complete.
