Memories and notes
This was Jon Poole's first concert as a member of Cardiacs.
The date of this concert was initially believed to be 21 October 1991 because several secondary sources list that date. However, a contemporary letter inviting fans to attend the filming and the Marquee Club's November–December 1991 programme both confirm that the concert took place on 21 November 1991.
The performance featured ten live debuts, the highest number documented at any known Cardiacs concert. The new material came from the forthcoming Heaven Born and Ever Bright album. Among the new songs was She Is Hiding Behind the Shed, which received its only known live performance at this show.
The circulating audio is very muffled, although the recording itself is otherwise clean. A video recording is reported to have been made, but no copy is known to have surfaced.
The show was intended to be professionally filmed for possible release. To reduce production costs, Cardiacs shared the evening and film crew with Japanese metal band Seikima-II. According to contemporary accounts, Seikima-II played first and Cardiacs followed later in the evening. No professional Cardiacs footage from the night is known to have surfaced.
Seikima-II were known for a highly theatrical visual style, with elaborate costumes and makeup associated with the early Visual Kei movement, paired with a power-metal sound.
